Modern systems use water passing through pipes buried under or in the floor structure.
It is a fuel saving and energy efficient method of heating a space as the water passing through the pipes is at a much lower temperature than through the conventional radiator system. However, it still has the ability to produce comfortable room temperatures.

Health benefits
Underfloor heating systems offer health benefits. With conventional radiator systems,
the surface area of the radiator is relatively small. Its operating temperature has to be much higher and it heats mainly by convection of the air in the room. This produces some unwanted effects; it creates localised hot spots, the moving convected air carries dust from the floor and spreads it around the room and the system dries the air, leading to discomfort.

Why underfloor heating?
• Gives even room temperature with no localised hot spots.
• Cleaner distribution of heat as there are no convection currents which carry dust ; therefore good for allergy sufferers.
• Does not dry the air; therefore air humidity remains constant.
• Low maintenance.
• Suitable for renewable energy sources.
• Suitable for conventional boilers because low temperature operation is very economical.
